Are we a good match?

Question Are we a good match?

Answer To find the right architect, use the same criteria to select a friend, companion or spouse and ask yourself:

  • Do you trust the architect?
  • Can you communicate with him/her?
  • Do you like the person?

and add a few qualities such as:

  • Is he/she qualified and licensed to practice architecture?
  • Is he/she creative?
  • Do you like the architect’s work and the way he/she works with clients?
  • Do they have positive work and personal references?
  • Do they offer the services you need?

Barring a few exceptions, most architects have similar training, but very different experience. You need to find the one who has the qualities you want!

The bottom line is…designing your house is more important than the food you eat and the clothes you buy. It’s revealing personal details about your life to a person you don’t know (at first). Make sure your architect listens to you and you’re comfortable telling him/her your secrets.

If it’s a toss-up, just pick the cheapest one — [just joking] I say that in jest, but too many clients make their selection based solely on price. Buying an architect is more involved than buying socks. Remember when you choose the lowest price you get less service for less money. Think deeply about your selection and don’t be surprised if it takes months to choose the right partner.

How do you know if I’m the right architect?

The only way to tell is to interview me so you can learn I am devoted to my clients, listen intently, willingly share ideas, explore options, work at your pace, do what I say, served many happy clients, have 19 years professional experience, am LEED-accredited, believe in what I do, provide a thoroughly detailed document set and can be quite entertaining.

I often warn my clients to be tolerant of your architect’s attempt at humor because I think I’m REALLY funny. So if you want an architect who is professional, creative, experienced, environmentally-responsible and personable we ARE a good match!
