The Dad — The Architect

Doctor, Officer, General. Those are titles that designate a particular status, position or employment. I don’t like them. It’s not these titles specifically that I don’t like. Architects and Technology

I’m a sucker for inquiring minds and am eager to share my thoughts with most people who are willing to listen — except solicitors. If you don’t believe me ask the unsuspecting caller who thought they called for a quick question and I corralled them for an hour discussing design, market conditions, the weather and which line is truly the slowest at Target. Interview with an Architect!

George Costanza (of Seinfeld fame) always pretended to be an architect, and while he was in love with the thought I’m not convinced George knew what it means to be one. Under his pseudonym, he claimed responsibility for railroads, an addition to the Guggenheim, importing latex and exporting matches, but the only thing he designed or built were tall tales. WishingRock — The Name

Do you ever wonder how people name companies? Sometimes, names are the founder’s initials like HEB (Henry E. Butts) grocery. It could be part of the founder’s name like Wal-Mart (Sam Walton). A name may tell location or function like 3M (MN Mining and Manufacturing) or Ebay. And sometimes it sounds catchy like Nike, but in the case of WishingRock, it was destiny and this is the inspiration behind the name. read more →
